To God be All the glory for your ministry. I’ve ordered your material but I still just haven’t been able to grasp the concept. I keep hearing about the music theory of music, so my question is do I need to order the 300pg to kind of grasp it all. I minister very heavily I preach teach and sing and many times finding a musician is so frustrating especially in this area I plan on ordering the Jason White course but please get back with me. I want to play the piano soooooooo bad I have tears in my eyes writing this e-mail I’ve prayed and I’m believing God that though the vision of playing is yet tarrying I’m gonna wait for it. If you’re still struggling to get started, I wouldn’t start with jason white’s course. Some of the courses we’ve released in the last year or so have been advanced, as a response to some of our students that were already playing and ready to get to that next level.
But for our students getting started in gospel music, I would recommend any of the 5 foundational courses. They are personally taught by me and go very slow. The foundation is the 300pg course as you’ve pointed out. You get your scales, your chords, your basic and fundamentals, your progressions, understanding of harmony, inversions, alterations… it’s a really neat crash course that will get you up to speed. If you’ve been listening to our radio show the past few weeks, many of the students have talked about the 300pg course as their starting point.
Beside that, I think GospelKeys 101 should start you out. It only focuses on 3 fingered chords but will get you started playing hymns. It’s very simple. It teaches you how to find the melody of songs… then how to put chords under those melody notes. After that course, the only thing you have to do is practice and get good at harmonizing melodies. The concept is crystal clear but as you know, faith without works is dead. So you’ll take that concept and really work it… play the 6 songs in the course until you’re tired of them. Then branch out and use the system to learn melodies, harmonize them, and add your bass and you’ll be well on your way.
If you haven’t gotten that far, it probably wouldn’t do much good to move on to GospelKeys 202 or Gospelkeys 300, other courses in that “foundational five.” Although it’s tempting to look at Michael Bereal and Jason White’s course, it will only get you off track that much more because what they are doing are things that even experienced musicians have to practice before they’re able to be executed with precision. they are not for beginners.

What’s up Jermaine. This is Adrian from Indiana. The Music Conference is at my church, Eastern Star Church and it is really great! I am in the Ministry Musicians Class that Jason White is teaching. He is awesome, and his teachings are great! He is truely a blessing to the Body of Christ! I hope everyone take advantage of his teachings. What’s up Jermaine? Yep!! I got to meet Jason White! I took a picture with him after the second class that evening! Also talked to him a little bit everyday! Actually on the first day of classes when we broke for lunch break he caught up with me and my mother to meet us. Best believe I brought up Hear and play and the zone family, as well as you and J.Powell! lol! We couldn’t believe how small the world is and the chances of that! I was listening when you had him on the phone call last week or so talking about the dvd! I ordered his dvd yesterday wile he was here in the Sanctuary! lol! Tonight is the free concert at 4 p.m Moms is taking more pictures tonight at the concert! Probably have them posted by tomorrow!! Should of heard Jason bringing up and breaking down the number system in the class and how they use it while playing! Half the people in the class don’t even know about the number system! They were taking notes like crazy! Then Jason finally brought up Hear and Play! They all definitely wrote down the website! Moms even brought the 300 page work book to show some of the people in the class! They were really excited! Anyway, that’s enough rambling! lol! Hi Jermaine, to God be the glory for your ministry helping and preparng a army of worshipers in the world. I am in Luanda, Angola, Afica and i’d likse to know how can i do to have all the programme you have. I’m working as a music teacher in my church sharing the experience that i have in that field (It very personal)

PRAYER GOD LEAD ME TO SIT IN FRONT OF THAT COMPUTER AND SEARCH “ONLINE PIANO LESSONS” AND HEAR AND PLAY POPPED UP.
THAT NIGHT I DOWNLOADED 6 eBOOKS AND THE 300 PAGE COURSE…for a limited time only..AND TOOK THE 7 TELECLASSES THAT JERMAINE GAVE. SLOWLY BUT SHO-LY(pardon the ebonics) I BEGAN TO UNDERSTAND THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF GOSPEL MUSIC.
THAT UNDERSTANDING, PLUS LINING UP WITH GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE,TOOK ME TO THAT NEXT LEVEL I WAS SEEKING FOR. AND THEN ONE DAY, THRU GOD’S ELECTION OF GRACE, HE PLACED AN ANOINTING OVER THAT MINIMAL KNOWLEDGE I RECIEVED FROM HEAR AND PLAY.
BE PATIENCE AND BUILD ON A SOLID FOUNDATION.
