I just came across this article about a new site, YouLicense.com, that’s suppose to make it easy for you to license your music to people that need it.
YouLicense is a marketplace which allows Artists, Writers, Producers, Publishers, Labels, or any other music owners to connect with those wishing to license music. Content is indexed and easily searchable. YouLicense provides standardized contracts,” says techcrunch.
Already, it looks like the site has collected over 50,000 songs created by independent labels and artists (that’s us) and these licenses can sell anywhere from $20 to $150 or more. You pay youlicense a 9% commission fee since they bring the buyer.
Since I’m also into video production , I find myself needing a quick track or two sometimes (like in this video). I usually find mine at RoyaltyFreeMusic.com, where I pay an annual fee. With YouLicense’s model, however, you’re actually connecting with real people and paying much cheaper to license music for your own needs.
Whether you’re on the buying or selling side, it seems like a pretty cool service.
Do you have what it takes to make and sell music online? Can you make jingles? Infomercial background music? Holiday music? Elevator music? There’s a huge demand out there.
The sky’s the limit!
