I received this DVD yesterday (Thrusday) and spent most of the night reviewing it and trying a few of the steps involved. I am without a doubt hooked. I look forward to this weekend in order to really get into it. My youngest son who enjoys rap and rock checked it out and was extremely impressed. I know he wants to take a stab at it.

I must admit, I had my doubts, but after reviewing the material they have been erased. For those of you that want to play Latin music (piano/keyboard) but are not musically inclined (like myself) this course is you need in order to actually learn to jam. All you need to do is follow the DVD and you are good to go.

Good luck,
Ismael

I agree, this course is awesome. I just got mine maybe 2 days ago. Jeff is a little nervous but he delivers the goods. I think it’s clearly lined out and it’s not too much so that you get discouraged but it is ENOUGH for you to be at your piano for hours implementing the stuff.

he talks about major and minor montunos, 3-2 and 2-3 clave, strategies on the 5th and 6th tones, how to harmonize and a bunch more. I’m impressed.

Any other reviews out there?

I really love the salsa lessons. He goes slow so you can easily follow and
learn. I’ve only watched it for 30 minutes, but I can already play what I’ve
seen him play. I’m very excited, and I’ll keep watching until I can play it
smoothly. It will take some practice, because some of the styles are tricky,
but I’ll get there. Maybe in the future you could produce some more Latin
piano like Mambo, Bossa Nova, Cha Cha and others. I’ll buy all of them.
Than you, Jermaine, and Thank you, Jeffrey.

i feel disappointed because i though you were going to teach
how to play solos or improvisation as the way you do in the
promotional video {ok it’s just a promotion) The disc #1 is all
the same the disc #2 just a little things to learn because I’m not
a beginner. I wish you teach improvisation as the way you do in piano salsa

It did say 101 however. As a beginner understanding that it was basics and fundamentals, I feel it covered the basics and fundamentals well. when there is an advanced version, I believe it will cater to those with more experience in salsa playing.

Once again the people of “Hear and Play” does it. Putting together a course that addresses the basics of playing music by ear, this time under the perspective of Latin music. All the elements of playing “Montunos”, come together, very clever and simple way to understand “La clave”. I think that this course will become a standard material for anyone interested in understanding and or playing Latin music.I am looking forward to an advance course where more secrets are revealed in such a proficient way. Way to go guys!

I Have gone thru disk one already- I think it is well done -I really wish the excercises were written out in notation- I think it would make it much easier to visualize where things fall. I am looking forward to moving on to disk to.. I was interested in how to get one of the pedals you were playing-(click) Thanks

I really like it mainly because Jeffrey Goodlind goes step by step and slowly. I also like your Gospel 101 Keys Jermaine because you really know how to teach piano by ear. God bless you all.
