Out of all the quotes I’ve shared with you through my weekend motivation posts, there’s only one that sits right in front of me when I work everyday.

You’ve probably heard it before…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God - your playing small doesn’t serve the world.”
Marianne Williamson
What does this mean to you?

WELL, ALOT OF TIMES WE ARE AFRAID OF ACHEIVING IN FEAR OF ACTUALLY SUCCEEDING. THROUGH YEARS OF BEING TOLD THAT IT’S IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO ACHEIVE SUCH A LEVEL. OR BEING CONSIDERED ORDINARY BECAUSE OF OUR MERGER UPBRINGINGS. TO BE TOLD ‘YOU CAN’T’ BECAUSE YOUR FATHER FAILED, OR YOUR MOTHER FAILED, OR BECAUSE YOUR FAMILY’S NAME STANDS FOR EVERYTHING BUT GREATNESS. AND NOW FINALLY YOU FIND YOURSELF AT THE POINT WHERE SUCCEEDING IS A MERE FEW STEPS AWAY. AND YOU PANIC AND SELL YOURSELF SHORT.
IT’S TIME TO PUT FAILURE ON THE BACK SHELF….AS A MATTER OF FACT WE SHOULD JUST GO AHEAD AND CAST IT IN THE SEA OF FORGETFULNESS. BECAUSE WE CAN, YOU CAN, I CAN SUCCEED!!!!
IT’S OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT.

Yeah, this is so totally true. Our social environment always told us directly or indirectly that we are not great, we are not special, we should be like everyone and do what they say is good for us.
Hell, look at that long, painfull process which was needed to get us done and to give us the ability to live on this wonderful planet and to… live a small life of fear and routine? To do the same job everyday, mourning about all the injustice and pain in this world, living a life of weakness and fulfilling other peoples expectations?
We should be ashamed to be so wastefull with the gift god (or whatever you call that extraordinary force that brought us here) gave to us. But we are not to blame. It’s our society that gave us the crutches we get along with our whole lifes, and the only way to change it is to change us and therefore the society we live in, as being said in the quote of Marianne Williamson.

I think being big scares a lot of people. I was just watching Tyler Perrys “the family that preys” and that seemed to be his character’s problem (the man Tyler played).
He was scared to be bigger. He was comfortable where he was. He was scared to take risks. His wife could see something in him that even he couldn’t. I think many of us suffer from that.
It’s easy to say we can’t. It’s easy to settle for status quo. But when it comes time to do something big, or be something big, we get scared and doubt ourselves. Peter did the same thing in the bible. He was on the boat and the storm started getting rough. Jesus appeared but Peter didn’t believe it was really him so Peter asked Jesus to make him walk on water so that he could walk to him. He even started to walk on water right when he got out of the boat but when he started seeing how boisterous the water was, he got scared and began to sink.
Many of us are at our “walk on water” breakthrough but we get scared as soon as we see minor setbacks. don’t be scared to be big!
God made you to be big!
Jermaine, you’ve set me on fire with this one. I feel like preaching!

This quote is probably one of the most powerful and thought provoking verses, other than those from the Bible. It can truly be frightening to embark upon a journey that will unveil gifts that are placed within. At best - we discover them and use them in that will uplift and glorify God, at worst - we become self-centered and use them to manipulate others. But I’m glad to know that God thought enough about us to give them to us. He’s a big God, so use the gifts in a big way and magnify Him.
Be Blessed.
