Welcome to the 11th and final issue of my weekly newsletter.
You may have noticed no newsletter was sent last week. That's because I'm discontinuing it for the time being.
"NOT!" April Fool's! :-)
The newsletter isn't going anywhere (and yes, this joke is a little
late)! But it is true that I skipped last week... but for good reason.
It was my 6 Year Wedding Anniversary week and while I thought I could
get the newsletter out while away, it just never happened!
But I'm back and in full force because this issue is doubly loaded! I've
added extra slots to make up for the missed week. You'll enjoy it!
Also, don't forget about Song Robot. The National Introductory period is
coming to an end. It's a song learning tool I released a little over a
month ago and it has already revolutionized learning for thousands of
musicians all over the world! You can go check out a free video I made about it here.
Don't forget to comment! I love to ongoing feedback.
Enjoy this issue and I'll see you next time.
"The Ear Doctor"
P.S. - Just in case you didn't fully read my introduction --- THIS ISN'T THE LAST ISSUE. It was all a joke! :-)
How To Transform Your Playing
Last year, I released a breakthrough system that took
what I believe to be the entire "playing by ear" process and broke it
into a step-by-step system.
It included 5 parts: Fundamental Fluency, Chordal Command, Pattern Paradise, Song Solidity, and Ear Efficiency.
We now make every new member of the Gospel Music Training Center
complete the online Musician Transformation training (9+ hours of video
training, over 300+ exam questions, etc).
In this post, I want to cover the first part of the system: Fundamentals Fluency. Read More>>>
So I just came back from a business conference in Phoenix, AZ where I was honored to be speaking as a finalist for Businessperson of the Year.
We each had around 30 minutes to present to an audience of 1000+. I went last.
I talked about my story and how I started Hearandplay.com with $70 at... Read more>>>
The Secret To Chord Mastery
In my last post, I introduced the 5-part "Musician Transformation" system:
Fundamentals Fluency, Chordal Command, Pattern Proficiency, Song Solidity, Ear Efficiency.
We started with the first step, Fundamentals Fluency, which consists of
scales, number system, finger exercises, intervals, and rhythm.
Now, we'll turn to chords!
In Chordal Command, we focus on 5 key areas: Triads, Extended Chords, Inversions, Primary vs Secondary, Voicings... Read more>>>
The "Polychord" Game: How Many Chords Can You Spot?
Polychords are huge extended chords that consist of two or more smaller chords.
As your chords get bigger and bigger, you'll spot smaller chords within.
These smaller chords present opportunities to explore other voicings.
For example, if you spot a C minor triad and an Eb major 7 in the same
chord, this gives you countless ways to voice the chord... including
two-hand versions... Read More>>>
A 15-Second Trick To Transform Major 7 Chords Into Minor 9 Chords!
In music, when you get this one single concept, it unlocks the door to many things!
The 6th tone of any major scale is your gateway to "minor!"
Just remember the 6th tone. That's it.
For example, if you take a regular C major scale (C D E F G A B C) and
start and end on the 6th tone without changing any of the notes, you'll
get an "A minor" scale (A B C D E F G A).
The same applies for chords... Read more>>>
"Ask Jermaine" will be back next week.
Every week, I rummage through our years of archived articles and dig you up a gem. Enjoy!
Play Kirk Franklin's "Imagine Me" With Just 4 Chords!
A pretty fun lesson... and bonus link to 45-minute video teaching this song, step-by-step. Read more>>>
Remember, this ezine releases EVERY Wednesday. Join us next week for another issue. See ya next time!
